Arrow is 100% better, it’s a triangle made of steal point to the direction of the sun that makes it clear in day light, a crosshair is something old and outdated no longer used by professionals only amatuers and kids likes it since they play video games, a man wouldn’t use a crosshair to select stuff it would use an arrow just like a bow & arrow that points to it’s target, hunting is the best sport , especially if you’re going to hunt rats
I’ve provided solid arguments. Read all 275 posts and I’m yet to see a single pro Arrow being the default with reasoning. All I read is blatant denials of the truth. Claiming that the arrow is better just because of personal choise is lazy, you need explain why. Also denying that the crosshair is more precise only makes you sound like a flat earther. Those images will speak for themselves:
LOL
So I asusme people working with precision tools that uses crosshairs (because it’s more precise and it’s how the human brain works) are kids playing videogames, and the best reason you present is that the cursor points to the direction of your target, it’s not your target, so in the end you are giving me the reason, it’s just that you don’t like it, because… you don’t like it, and you prefer the “new” because it’s “new”.
You said it:
Arrow = direction
Corsshair = point
Yep… you did it again.
The target is precisely located under your cursor, so you can perform an action with precision.
Crosshair = point = precision
The arrow is pointing towards a target, what target? don’t know with precision, some target in that direction…
Arrow = direction
Yeah, good example of the fails of the arrow.
Real life example. Arrow selecting behind
What? that the arrow is not precise and the direction it points it’s not precise because the target you select is not the one being in the arrow direction? LOL
No it’s not, the example presented by @Alberto showed that with the arrow in that position you can pick the vertex behind the arrow… imprecision
Photoshop is 2D flat, doesn’t have 3D and doesn’t function the same way in terms of interaction & each tool have it’s icons btw only box select that’s crosshair buhhhhhh.
3DsMax and Modo uses crosshair. We’ve said it about… a dozen times. And with blender are 3 of the 4 main modeling software…
Maya, Softimage, Sketchup…etc uses Arrow so doesn’t matter kid.
Exactly, it doesn’t matter, because it does not change the fact that:
Arrow = direction and it’s imprecise as has been already demonstrated
Crosshair = precision, not a forced direction that will give you the wrong information about what are you going to select.
Yes, photoshop has 3d in case you didn’t know.
Not 3D modeling like in a DCC
Cinema 4d even has an arrow, but it’s much smaller than the OS arrow, to not be so bad, and changes to cursor when click+drag.
Blender is following the standard which really good, crosshair shouldn’t be even part especially that now all tools are activetools with gizmos…etc 100% win for the cg community hurryyyyyyyy.
Tweak and lasso tool don’t have to be crosshair. Box select MUST be, circle select too.
@Alberto @JuanGea @Gilberto.R 2.82 is not going anywhere, you guys can keep enjoying the crosshair there, just like blender internal in 2.7x.
nah, shouldn’t box select is the default and it works with the gizmos so changing to crosshair conflicts with selection with an arrow.
Wait… you just said it does not matter… but now it matters?
So it matters if you like it, but it does not matter if you don’t like it…
