Where’s the “drag anywhere” to transform in that mockup?
That’s the best feature of the transform tools. And remember, transform tools are tools to perform transformations, it’s not to be box selecting stuff…
That proposal is not about drag anywhere.
Yeah, I know that transform tools are transforms tools. But we have select and select with lazo in transform tools, in the same way that we have context menu in the transform tools and not a menu only for the transform tools (for example like photoshop).
I think that drag anywhere must be an option inside preferences, off by default. That affect all active tools behaviour
Well, this totally makes no sense to me…
Good luck…
How can it be hard to see the sense of something you are currently doing with normal selection? Will you quit any type of selection with any active tools? that if you need to select a new face you must go back to select tool, select the face and then go to extrude?
Look, “drag anywhere” is precious, and there are better ways of dealing with tools for selecting etc… but let’s not clutter this thread…
If you’re happy with it, no worries, go for it…
And I told that I will keep it like an option in preferences, in the same way that we keep the Select All toggle.
But please, answer me, will you quit all selections inside a active tool like when you told that the active tool only must have the active tool functionality?
Hahaha, what is this?
The toolbar is for active tools, get those toggles out of there and leave the transform tools alone.
It’s always amazing when people who don’t use active tools starts to talk about it.
Must be amazing why a simple post have so many likes then.
Those likes are probably from modal tools users. All they want is 2.7 stuff back no matter what.
Why do users of modal tools want to use gizmos? they are modal users, they use hotkeys to order a pizza.
Can we get the Active tool and Workspace settings as it’s own bar under the workspace tabs again? The most recent build adds in top bars to each individual window with the tools, but since the workspaces often have more than one window open, the tool settings are now hidden at the top.
Little one, when ctrl+middle click in the shelves (tools or properties) to zoom in or out (maken bigger or small) zooming in has a nice slow rate but zooming out its like four times more sensitive to cursor movement, so all become really small much faster.
Could be possible allow user to make custom quad view? for example only vertical split, horizontal split, move the border?
I used to find the left toolbar very useful, and now I barely use it as a Tools Bar. But I understand it is important for new users. So why not have both? In my proposal, the Tools Bar could be hidden / unhidden by clicking a discrete arrow. The T Bar could return alongside it.
A lot of times we need the tool system and the Properties panel opened at the same time, so both shouldn’t be in the same area.
On the Top Bar, users should be able to choose when it will show based on the workspaces they are currently using. This could be done with simple toggles on the menu.
Both are simple fixes and I think they could improve our workflow a lot.
Hope you like it!
Not good enough?
An user in other thread ask to share tool settings between various viewports, I think that will be hard to implement, so I ask to allow customiztaion in the quad view. That could be easy to implement.
I think the default quad view should be removed and replaced with a preset with 4 normal viewports. The way it is now is too limiting and develop this further sounds like a waste of dev time.
Quad view is more than only 4 viewports. We have sync all viewports and lock the view. Also it won’t solve the other users petition.
Issues like this will always exist. Putting the topbar inside the editors was a mistake. Not much can be done with this new design, it will always cause problems.
The user asked to be able to have the snap/pivot/orientation controls between several viewports. Something that we can’t do with original topbar.
I say this in case you want to know what he asked for, before making statements that have nothing to do with it.
