USD
- Jesse has PRs waiting for reviews. Micheal will try to find time to review them.
- Jesse has been working on supporting camera properties animation. Handling of aperture is tricky.
- Hydra and Vulkan are not working well together currently. This is the missing piece for the drawing part of the USD instancing project.
- Jean raises the topic of name collisions in naming when exporting point instancing data. This is a known issue currently (also related to the scene graph generated in these case), recent improvements in 4.5 did not fully address it yet.
UFBX Import support.
The PR is essentially ready for a merge as experimental in Blender 4.5. Jesse did an initial review pass, Bastien will also check on it soon.
Aras also asked for testing and feedback in a dedicated devtalk thread.
Other
- Rigs Interoperability:
- Blender specific handling of rigs and bones creates issues when importing rigs from other DDCs.
- Add option to select along which axis are bones aligned (besides default Y axis)?
- Add more control on how the bone is drawn, e.g. by limitting the drawing size of very large bones, or adding a new ‘joint only’ drawing mode?
Next Meeting
