If really want to improve the interface, you’d better do something really useful. For example, implement drag and drop in the material list (or at least sort alphabetically).
I’ve already changed three mice because I clicked the arrows on the right side too often. By the way, you can turn them to the left to the right (instead of from bottom to top). After all, the left is always the beginning, and the right is always the end.
And here all play with the colors and directions of writing text and other nonsense.
This would immediately break all geometry nodes that use a particular material assignment / the Material Index as a selection input source.
The year is 2023. Is this really a problem that can’t be avoided? Also, the index does not have to be of the same order as in this list. I’m sure we can think of something.
index separately, name separately.
To the same index is not displayed. I have to count in order in the list
Actually no, geometry nodes don’t have that much of a problem. It’s just that you’re quite explicit, a bit aggressive, pushing feature requests.
Well, the order has meaning. I order my materials a specific way so I can remember which index is which, I would hate it if alphabetical sorting was forced.
It depends if your left hand pivots the head on the chin or on the temple, I guess
the alphabetical order was as an example. What’s really missing is drag and drop.
C’mon guys, this is a no-point debate. It all comes down to personal habits. And by the way, do you really turn your head left or right to read the labels in the UI??
You said it better than I; thanks for the response.
Because seeing the news casually about something that breaks the usual order in my head and that few people asked for causes the chair to fire up. I consider this approach to be disrespectful to users.
I understand the desire for an industry standard. But the industrial standard may just be a habit, just other people’s.
But the most important thing is that there are more important things than changing the direction of writing tabs.
Moderation notice:
I’m gonna nip that in the bud right there, aggressive behavior will not be tolerated, regardless of your justifications, everyone be nice and kind to eachother now, you can disagree but do so in a respectful and considerate way
Using this logic, writing from top to bottom should not be a problem to do from bottom to top.
There were enough examples to leave it as it was. Yes - Blender is not CAD, but a lot of people use it in conjunction with CAD. Don’t think that there is only sculpting or animation.
I assume it’s about me. Okay. I’ll leave it at that. Just be aware that minor changes without prior discussion can cause a lot of negative emotions. It’s just that not everyone will write about it because of their seriousness.
Good luck with that.
Not sure about CAD, it’s more about working from scratch versus working from any source data.
All the source data we recieve or produce in our studio has leftside bottom aligned text because of a common conventions, design standards and rules.
This is why we find reasonable to avoid dealing with text rotated in the other side, and this is why we appreciate the original Blender design decision in comparison to other software we use.
I personally prefer the direction the way it was. If a change is made, please consider this to be a boolean preference.
