Scale indicator missing in 2.8

In 2.79, at the top left corner of the 3d view there is a little text info that shows you what scale you’re in when zooming in/out. I find this very helpful when I’m zoomed in really close to an object, to get some sense of depth.

In 2.80 however, this is not present anymore. It now shows which collection you’re currently working on.

Is it planned to bring back this info in some way?

Yeah, can we get the units back as a overlay or something. I was also wondering where this went.

This needs to get more attention. Who do I ping to get some answers?

Try asking one of UI Module Owners:

Pablo Vazquez (pablovazquez)
William Reynish (billreynish)
Brecht Van Lommel (brecht)
Campbell Barton (campbellbarton)

Hello @pablovazquez @brecht, I was told you guys might have some info on this. Care to shed some light? Your reply will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

If it was there in 2.7 then I don’t see a reason to not report it as a bug.

Hi @ideasman42 @brecht, with blender 2.80 being in UI freeze, does this mean that this won’t get added in time for 2.80 release? I understand there’s already a patch ready by @mano-wii but hasn’t been approved yet. Is there something hindering approval of the patch? Thank you.
