You’ll have to dumb it down for me, I don’t know what “full stack ui+api versatile manifold solution” means. I kinda get what you are trying to say, but for the most part, it’s just buzz words.
I will try to explain what I am doing here. Maybe you aren’t even asking that and I’m misinterpretting you, but I’ll answer anyways. Short answer is I am trying to help a community that has done the same for me. It is also fun to figure things out. Sometimes it is annoying when it doesn’t go anywhere and (in my own mind at least) I’m really close to figuring it out. But that is part of what makes it rewarding I guess. I also get new ideas to improve my own build or workflow, and bug fixes, by sharing it. Select through is the only complicated thing I add to my custom build, the rest is just convenience or visual stuff like frame selected distance, zoom speed, different mouse cursor, etc.
That is the main thing I am doing here. But not the only thing. I’ve been asked enough times to submit something and I finally did, knowing there’s not a lot of likelyhood of it happening, and saying as much a few times. What I mean when I say that not needing a custom build is the goal, it’s for the handful of people in the thread not needing one from me. Little time or effort to compile and upload a build, and I get some fixes and ideas in return, but it would be better if it wasn’t needed. So, if some form of select through does get added to blender, that might be good enough that a custom build isn’t needed anymore.
@Hologram from what I understand this isn’t a submitting a patch situation as much as a discussion about what might be considered in the future, with some test builds on the side because why not. I’m open to whatever though.
