Pablo, to be sure the matcaps could work on default scenes, we should correct the alien scene.
As you can see it’s way too bright and then it’s incorrect.
I thought that too, But its a minor issue, probably known, the main point is to make it work.
No it’s really important, look at this.
First is the default scene, too bright, not the same colors.
With corrected scene, same colors, that works better.

Also, you shouldn’t use Filmic, but the Default preset
I know, but it still applies a LUT curve to the matcap, to be honest the matcap should neglect all color profiles

We can twak matcap colors that way!

I’m going for the classic normal map matcaps -y and +y, for this ones to get a normal map properly rendered the Filmic profile should be off
You can still tweak the colors with the materials in combination with the matcap, in the case of the one i posted or cavity and curvature one, you gonna get incorrect results with profile curves.
