Shift-N with no selection

I’m a newbie here so apologies if this is not appropriate or has already been covered.

If one uses Shift-N to recalculate normals with nothing selected a dialog box appears that isn’t actually doing anything and it is hard to get rid of it. It would be much better if it displayed a warning “Nothing Selected” and then, when that warning dialog was closed, exited the command.

Yes, it strange that menu does not disappear if you LMB-click on empty space in 3D View.
But it does if Shift+LMB…
