Sorry for jamming the forum; this one may interest many people:
Could we try and have a way to add a reference image as an overlay on the 3D view, instead than the actual localised background or reference. I now use another window in Image editing, or tried parenting it to the camera but the connexion is lost each time I set the camera to view.
In 2.79; it was possible to overlay it to the camera, although it would not allow the scaling it is much more convenient than having to turn the image manually at every change of the point of view.
