i was thinking there should be an app that connects to blender over wifi and tracks your render even when you’re not home, and notify you when its done.
is there something like this? is there isnt, it would be really nice to have something like this.
If it’s something you need now, there might be a way to do mostly the same thing through command line, chaining blender with something that sends you an email afterwards?

Easiest way without any programming at all is to use virtual desktop client, do remote connection.
