In the sept 28 build of Blender 2.8 for windows the drawing behavior has changed a little bit, it removes a function I like very much and I wonder if it would be too much trouble to bring it back.
before this build when you select surface as the drawing point you could select just Y as the drawing plane lock, now you can only select a combination of YZ XY XZ this makes it much harder to draw on a plane with elements staying on a plane but standing upright.
so the behavior is like this…

I use this ability to be able to stack drawings in 3D space and move the camera though them. It’s a great effect for animatics.
