mesh to volume is great. Would be awesome if it could also take into consideration any particle systems present on the mesh being converted to the volume.

I just committed the new volume object to 2.83, for rendering OpenVDB volumes. This is a topic for user feedback on that functionality.

The main limitations are these, which we are aware of and working on:
No sparse grid rendering yet in Cycles and Eevee, so uses more memory than it could.
