Issues porting Blender to Android tablets

Blender is crashing on my device at open i think its mainly happening on mediatek devices bcz i tried on 3 devices in which in 2 devices the app crashed but in one phone the app worked that has snapdragon…

It opened perfectly on the s24 ultra, but as the friend above said the S pen doesn’t work, but it was perfect, now we just need to adapt it to a functional interface for mobile devices, thank you very much.

I just tried it on my Samsung A23 and it works fairly well on the minimal test I made. I’ll try to record the screen and share it here as well by running some more tests.

Edit:

Here is a link to a screen recording of a small test I made today (2:30-ish min):

In my case no, when I try to enter the tablet it gets slow for a second and the screen turns gray and the app closes by itself. My tablet is an “xppen magic drawing pad” a rebrand of the tcl nxtpaper 12 pro, it has 8g of ddr4 ram a mediatek kompanio 800t (mt8771) and a mali g-57 mc2 gpu, if you want to know more I will be happy to give you everything you want to know.

This has been on my mind for a while, and I thought I should share it. On smaller screens, the initial UI scale is pretty tiny. As with tiny buttons, pressing on the right one is quite a test of patience. It took me a while to get to the preferences and some more time after that to adjust the scale. May I suggest increasing the initial scale for future installations? I would say it’s easier to scale down than to scale up.

Also, the annotate tool works brilliantly. Strokes flow smoothly from my fingertips. Not sure if that would be helpful with debugging grease pencil.

I tried running it on my phone but it just shows grey screen then crashes. I tried peeking at logcat, but I can’t find what’s causing it.
here’s the logcat
(I used pastebin cause the logcat is too long to paste here)

Also, here’s my device info in case it’s needed:

I tried making a raymarching shader in the node editor, and it works really well. It’s a pity I couldn’t upload the video here, but it runs very smoothly.
The random slider on the Voronoi texture node doesn’t affect the result.

Please stay on topic in this thread.

The creator of this thread posted this in the “Contributing to Blender” section and asked questions to better understand Blenders code.

I don’t think this is anywhere near for requests or wide scale bug reports yet.

The source tarball contains a single 138 byte long readme.md that’s without a doubt not the source code.

friend, if you can make the source code available, we could help in your development process.

for what i been seeing in the github the last days why dont you make a patreon/kofi way to support you? i dont know if only me who what to give some money month to month for buying a new device and compensate for the time you’ve spent making the port
pd: i been reading the issues tab and idk what to think.

People who modify GPL code and release a binary are obliged by the license to release the source code. I agree, language and tone matters. But generally speaking it was a justified request by people.

@epai It’s unfortunate that you took everything down. If you ever feel comfortable again publishing your changes, you are welcome in this forum and on our other channels in case you have questions.

It would have been nice if this project was maintained under the Blender Foundation umbrella. Maybe OP would change his mind at some point and release the source.
