There are tools like the skinmodifier, which is blenders pendant for z-spheres and they are not controllable from within this keymap. And I think this tool is quite important.

I think you mean the ability to set the vertex radius? You can set it here in the Sidebar:

It might be possible to add as a shortcut also if you have a specific suggestion that doesn’t conflict.

Or the new Sculpt-masking tools that are using the topolgy and curvature information. Not possible to control from within this keymap.

Respecting different keyboard layouts is also be a point causes quite a hassle for many of us. Parts of this keymap stay uncontrollable for many users because of this.

Is this the bracket issue with German keyboards? Any concrete suggestions?

Quite some modal keymaps resemble the blender keymap but there are no versions for the IC keymap. Are adpations for these possible?

Yes, I generally didn’t alter modal keymaps since modal operators is mostly a Blender concept anyway. It would add a lot more changes, but if it makes sense it could be worth it. How exactly would you change them?

Even if the keymap is simpler it’s no trivial task to edit it. The keymap editing-ui eg doesn’t help to control conflicts and also it has no list of available operators or tools, as most other tools have. So it’s definitely a much more complex task than in other apps to gain control or keep an overview over what’s possible. And that is especially true for new users.

That is absolutely true, and one of the reasons I looked at adding keymap prefs to the IC keymap - to make it much easier to make common tweaks.
