How would one go about solving the banding caused by stepping through volumes?

I’m using 3.1.2 but I also tried the newest version with the same result. I’m using Eevee, had no luck with getting anything useful out of just setting rendering to cycles so I didn’t look further into that.

Then the fix in Cycles and this topic are not related to your volume banding issue, as this is purely about Cycles.
