I think there is a point behind posting Filter objects by name without their parents. If one types a bone fragment name, one can get several large hierarchies displayed. Disabling “Show Children” in the filter doesn’t seem to apply to Armatures, which seems inconsistent. There should be some way to “clean up” what can be a messy display.
Also, I’m not able to get Select by Pattern with bones Selecting bones by name without clicking to work for me in 2.93.4. Did it stop working?
