Enable solidify modifier "Even Thickness" option by default

I don’t know if I am the only one, but when I use the solidify modifier 90% of the time I’ll enable the “Even Thickness” parameter.

I’m wondering why it is disabled by default? Is it much more slow? Some other modifiers have slower settings as defaults (e.g. triangulate modifier->Polygon Method = Beauty, which is slower)

Also is there a place where the defaults are discussed? I could not find any, hence this post here.

Is it better to just submit a diff with the code changing it and have the discussion here?

I’d like to see that as a default too. I also always switch on Normals ➔ High Quality, but I can imagine that is not turned on by default because it probably requires slightly more rendering resources.
