When i click gpu compete to render my rendering viewport in cylces after like 10 or 20 seconds blender just crashes. I have an rx5600xt graphics card and i cant even load a donut that i made with cycles. I cani just use CPU rendering. I even selected my gpu in the preferences
I also noticed this behavior with the Windows version of Blender.
With AMD GPUs.
You need a lot of patience with blender versions 2.8x. Until the first build is completed.
If you are too impatient, blender will crash.
Blender 2.90 Alpha gave me a real improvement.
First build is almost immediately completed.
