Why is texture baking so mind meltingly slow?

Bingo!
and ten chars

You are lifesave. Thank you very much. I don’t have to left the render to my grandchildren.

Hello
I have the same problem , using Blender 3.1
I tried baking a 10K map but it would take me about a week
I lowered to 8k, but i think the Tiles are 4k. It started well but after a few hours is very very slow again, not using the resources.
I have a Nvidia RTX 2060, 6 gb of VRAM and 32 RAM on an I5 CPU

Could someone advise me on the settings for an 8k and for a 10k baking?
Should the tiles be lower or closer to the baking size?
Should they be a multiple/power of 2?
By the way i am using GPU rendering of course.
Thanks !

Me again - 3 years later…

Following on from @Constantinesis post, I would also really appreciate if someone could explain “the rules” for optimal baking performance in Blender 3.0+

What should we be doing with tile size? Are small tiles still best for CPU? Is GPU the same?

Any steer on this would be very much appreciated.
