Overlapping mesh that causes a glitch

I keeping getting this issue numerous times. So I use the mirror modifier and after I get these overlapping meshes which then I have to deleted which causes a great loss of time. Anyone have any idea on how to fix this? Take a look

no idea how you got into this situation, but it’s pretty clearly zfighting from doubled geometry. should be as simple as going into edit mode and merging vertices by distance (something very low should suffice). Afterward you may have some inverted normals that can be recalculated with one of the operators in the Alt+N normals menu.

As a side note- topics like this will get a lot more attention over on BlenderArtists.org, this site is mostly for developers (who are typically not interested in how-to discussions for modeling and whatnot)
