Noise and cloud texture?

It’s looks a bit weird, that Noise and cloud texture are the same, but named differently:


Noise texture in Cycles and Clouds texture in texture properties - is it the same? why are they named differently?

The old texture properties tab is actually at the end of its life and will be replaced with something new in the future. I think all that was leftover from blender internal infact.

I see “Texture nodes” on your screenshot, not the textures in properties window.

Cycles nodes will stay the same, but the texture properties nodes will be replaced. They are an old node system that no one uses anymore. The New system Could be the same tab though mind you, but either way it will change, and with it those discrepensies will be fixed.
