Minimum render resolution


Is there a technical reason that the minimum rendering resolution in Blender is set so that I cannot render for example 1x100px images? The funny thing is that this limitation can be avoided by setting the render resolution to 4 x 400px and the percentage to 25%. This results into 1x100px image output but is an unnecessary step in the process for seemingly no reason?

Would it be technically possible to remove the minimum render resolution limitation?
