Hair Curve Interpolation question

Hello,

I understand that dynamics for the geonode curve hair system in blender is high on the list of upcoming priorities and that is great. However, I was wondering what the status was of the issue of Interpolated Hair Curves intersecting a mesh when a Subdivision Surface modifier is applied to that object?

In case you are unaware, suppose you add hair curves to a polygonal surface that has a Subdivision Surface modifier applied to it. Next you add an Interpolate Hair Curves geonode modifier to the stack in order to create all the hair between the guides. The interpolated hair then intersects the surface instead of sitting nicely on the surface itself. The result is that the hair groom looks wrong.

Note that checking Surface Rest Position on the Interpolated Hair Curves does not fix the issue.

If you apply the Subdivision Surface modifier to the mesh so as to “bake in” all the extra polygons, the issue goes away and all the interpolated hairs are correctly situated exactly on the surface of the mesh. However, there are some times when the Subdivision Surface is required and it is not practical to apply the modifier permanently.

Has this been reported as a bug and is it being worked on along with the other updates to the Curve Hair system? Would we be able to see a fix for this soon?

Thank you!
