Flipped normals for imported .obj

Not sure exactly where this thread goes, so hopefully this is the right place.

Recently my blender has been displaying imported .obj’s in a weird way, it’s like the normals are flipped. In viewport/mesh mode it looks fine but material mode and Eevee renderer have the same problem. Sometimes it gets fixed when switching over to Cycles, but sometimes not. I have tried importing with both the Wavefront .OBJ (Legacy) and standard Wavefront .OBJ options, but that does not fix the issue. Does anyone else know about this/experience this.
