Hello, is there some sort of workaround to get Quixel single channel .exr files to read until this bug is fixed.
You can open the file in another program and add a G and B channel. The easiest way to do this that I have found is using GIMP.
- Download GIMP 2.10.20 and install it.
- Open the EXR file in GIMP.
- File-> Export As
- Give the file a slightly different name so you don’t overwrite the original. Make sure that it ends in
.exr
The new file will now work in Blender.

Thanks for suggestion but i know that way or just export with Bridge to casual textures works too. So i assume that current Blender code just do not read them directly at all until it is fixed, right?. I tried to use separate RGB nodes without any result. Current bug just slows down iteration time for me and i just wait until fix arrives.
Every person has different workflow.
