  • Casey: Found an issue in sculpt and vertex paint mode where when the active layer is locked, you can’t sculpt even though other layers are unlocked. Also, there seems to be an inconsistency with autokey where for other layers it won’t create a keyframe. There seem to be other tools that have this issue.
  • Falk: Maybe we should consider moving to a workflow where by default, tools will work on the active layer and only when checking an option work on all (editable) layers.
    • Antonio: Maybe the final solution to this is to select multiple layers to work on all the selected ones.
  • Samuel: Someone brought up an issue where you cannot move strokes into locked layers anymore. When working in auto-lock mode, this is not convenient.
    • Falk: Yes. This would also be solved with the proposal above.
  • Samuel: Asked about per layer effects.
    • Falk: We hope that multi-stage compositing can also be done at the layer level. But there is nothing planned for this yet.
  • Daniel: We need more & better default brushes!
    • Falk: Will ask Julien & Vivien about this.
  • Discussions
    • Daniel: proposes to turn off the visual aids feature by default so that you don’t have to click twice
      • Everyone agrees.
      • Samuel: The default length is 0 so you can’t see the visual aids at all
      • Falk: Maybe we can make the length of the aids in screen space.
      • Casey: Thinks that we could get rid of the double-click entirely by showing the aids when the tool is active (and maybe set them to 0 length by default)
      • Daniel: Maybe we can show the aids while holding down and fill on release ?
        • Falk: Click hold and drag to change the size of the aids could work.
      • Falk: For 4.5 LTS it would be best to change the default of the visual aid to off (and changing the default length).
