  • Development updates
    • The winter of quality project is now complete. Lots of issues and regressions have been tackled. Of course, bug fixing will still continue as usual.
    • Blender 4.4 is going to go into Beta this week. See all the changes here: Grease Pencil - Blender Developer Documentation

  • Falk: In draw mode, shift+spacebar brings up the asset shelf. How are people liking this so far?
    • Feedback was mixed. Amélie pointed out that one their artist preferred the tool menu from 4.2. Daniel said he likes the asset shelf on shift+spacebar (because he can hide the bottom shelf then).
  • To artists: Please help test the “Fill” tool in Blender 4.4 more carefully (builder.blender.org)! Thank you!
  • Falk: Should the “2D Animation” template use “Solid” shading mode?
    • Right now, with “Material preview” it takes a long time to load the template.
    • Vertex colors and layer tinting is showing up in “Solid” mode now (Blender 4.4).
    • Textured strokes don’t work in Solid mode.
      • Falk: Will check and see if that can be changed.
  • Casey: Is working on shapes. Wondering if we should commit to the is_hole attribute name.
    • Falk: Couldn’t come up with anything better atm.
  • Daniel: Working on ClayPencil and focusing more on workflow side (from artist perspective).
    • Falk: Has a WIP PR to make sure hidden layers don’t show up in modifier evaluation (and thus in geometry nodes).
    • Samuel: Has a bit of time to work on Storytools again.
