This is a fortnightly video chat meeting for planning and discussion of VFX & Video in Blender. Any contributor (developer, UI/UX designer, writer, …) working on these areas in Blender is welcome to join and add proposed items to the agenda.
For users and other interested parties, we ask to read the meeting notes instead so that the meeting can remain focused.
This is a meeting notes area, so not the best for asking, but could someone explain what this means? Are we referring to fields vs single value? Aka fields could come to other editors?
It’s based on a proposal from Hans iirc. Where the idea was to introduce the concept of fields to other editors, so that parameters currently not exposed as sockets could be (such as the Nishita Sky parameters). This is because those parameters expect single values, whereas compositor and shader node sockets can usually vary for every pixel or sample, which is akin to fields. Ultimately this could mean high-level interfaces for materials and (perhaps?) compositing node trees
