Upper limit to select hierarchy?

I have 1600 objects in an imported group, and I can’t get “select hierarchy” to work:

Hi @eobet,
just a short info for you. Tested it out with the latest build 2.82. and roughly 1800 objects and made the hierarchy similar to yours. “Select Hierarchy” is working fine here. So eventually it has been fixed or your problem is different. Beside that, we are shortly before the release of 2.81, most bugs are gone, it should be safe enough to update now.

I know 2.81 has other outliner improvements so I guess I’ll try the latest build there.
