USD
- Jesse created the USD targets task for Blender 5.0.
- The PR to handle invalid geometries on import has been merged.
- Liz is an Apple developer, and has been working on the very recently submitted PR to add point instancer export support. While this arrives very late for 4.5, the feature would be good to have, and its implementation is fully isolated within the USD I/O code. So there may be an exception, provided it is fully ready by the end of next week (14th June). It may also be initially added under the ‘experimental’ USD features.
Other
- Aras prepared the PR to completely remove Collada support from Blender 5.0.
- Jesse: Support for Jpeg XL is highly requested, and already has a WIP PR. Blender needs to wait for OpenImageIO to be ready anyway (a basic support is already available in 3.0.6, but more advanced features support are still missing), and then validate the new dependency request with the Blender admins and the Platform module.
